AMAZON PARROTS, YELLOW FONDED
The various subspecies of Amazona ochro-cephala are highly popular because of their beauty and easy'tamability, and especially because of their great capacity for imitating human speech; they are, in fact, among the most talented of all parrots in that regard. They are therefore very much in demand as pets and command a high price when offered for sale, so the development of successful breeding programs for these birds would be highly profitable and also would go a long way towards reducing the pressure put upon the supply of wild birds. This book is primarily directed at aviculturists in the belief that the facts it contains will result in the innovation and experimentation needed for successful breeding programs, but it is intended also to provide amateur ornithologists and bird fanciers with a basis of understanding the behavior of the species in the wild and in captivity. Highly illustrated throughout, the book contains a wide range of photos—including full-color photos—useful in identifying the different Subspecies.
